Endodontics in Reading

Endodontics is a branch of dentistry that specialises in the study and treatment of the dental pulp. Endodontic treatment not only cleans out any infection but strives to protect the tooth from becoming infected in the future.
Endodontic treatment or therapy is also called RCT or Root Canal Treatment (RCT). Getting an RCT can save your tooth that otherwise would require extraction.

Our natural teeth contain blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue, known as the pulp. If the tooth is fractured, has a cavity, experienced trauma or a dental restoration is damaged, bacteria can invade the pulp tissue which can eventually lead to an infection. An untreated infection in the dental pulp could lead to swelling in the affected area, nerve damage or an abscess. The tooth might also become discoloured or experience hot and cold sensitivity. If left untreated the infection spreads and could cause the tooth to fall out.

Professional Reading Endodontists

An endodontist can stop the infection from spreading by removing the nerve tissue. The procedure is relatively painless because the endodontist administers a local anaesthetic to reduce sensitivity. Removal of the inflamed pulp eliminates the pain and restores the tooth. You may require a crown to seal the tooth following root canal therapy.
