Facial Rejuvenation – All You Need To Know

07-07-2021

What is facial rejuvenation?
Facial rejuvenation, also known as facial aesthetics, refers to non-surgical procedures that help reduce the tell-tale physical signs of facial ageing. The process of ageing will inevitably affect the face. This, along with other lifestyle factors such as smoking, stress and alcohol consumption, means that fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes will form.
Facial rejuvenation is a range of treatments that can help soften wrinkles and lines, and define features and contours. The most common reason for facial rejuvenation is to achieve a radiant and younger appearance in the face.
Which treatments are classed as facial rejuvenation?
Several treatments come under the facial rejuvenation umbrella. These include:
Anti-wrinkle injections – Using a very fine needle, you will be injected with a purified protein. This goes into specific problems areas to stop the muscles from contracting, preventing the skin from creasing and helps to smooth out wrinkles. This helps to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, wrinkles and frown lines. This procedure takes just 10-15 minutes, and results show within a day or two.
Dermal fillers – These injections are a safe, natural way of restoring volume to the skin. It works by replacing lost hyaluronic acid, and improves elasticity and helps to fill deep creases. This is also a treatment that can make lips fuller and plumper. This treatment takes just 10-15 minutes, and the results are immediate.
PCI (percutaneous collagen induction) – Tiny needles are used on the upper and middle skin layers, causing subtle wounds that encourage a healing process. This triggers the production of collagen and skin cells, giving instant results. You will usually require two or three sessions.
How to prepare for your facial rejuvenation treatment
Your facial rejuvenation specialist will advise you on what to expect from the procedure based on your skin, age and history. A professional, such as The Gallery Dental, will look at your skincare routine and advise on the most suitable treatment plan. Some treatments are not recommended for pregnant women or people with certain conditions.
If you are wearing make-up when you attend your appointment, this will be cleaned off before the process takes place. There may be certain things that should be avoided before your treatment, which you will be informed of when the treatment plan is discussed.
